Here’s Graeme Obree on his way to break the World Hour Record at the Hamar velodrome, Norway. On 16 July 1993, Obree’s first attempt at the World Hour record failed. Riding a carbon replica of Old Faithful he missed the record by 500 metres. Instead of waiting weeks for his body to recover, he returned the next day and smashed the record on his homemade bicycle.
